Firefly Garden at Rose Warren Elementary

Arbor and signage at Firefly Garden

This teaching garden was designed and built for Rose Warren Elementary School in collaboration with the non-profit organization Create A Change Now, the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, Clark County School District and Par-3 Landscapes.  This edible garden is used as tool to teach children where their food comes from and how to prepare it in healthy ways.  The existing site had significant grade changes and had to be terraces with switchback walkways to provide ADA accessibility.  The garden included planting areas at ground level as well as raised areas that would allow wheelchair bound children equal opportunity to engage in the garden.  Also included was a small amphitheater space that could be used as an outdoor classroom.
